Vivian originates in Latin language and means "full of life". Formerly, Vivian was used as a masculine given name but today is strictly feminine. It was the name of a 5th century French saint who protected France against the Visigothic invasion. It was also the name of a 4th century Roman martyr. As a feminine given name Vivian is fairly popular in the United States these days.
