Vana is a diminutive of Ivana. Ivana originates in Hebrew language and means "God is merciful". It is a feminine form of Ivan, ultimately derived from the Hebrew name Yochanan. Thus, it is derived from the same origin as Jane, Joan, etc. Ivana is used as a feminine given name in Slavic languages. In the United States it was popularized by Ivana Trump, former wife of Donald Trump.
