Anielka is a diminutive of Aniela, itsef a Polish variant of Angela. Angela originates in Greek language and means "God's messenger". It is a feminine form of Angelus. In English-speaking countries it has been used since the 18th century and in the U.S. it was most popular in the 1970s. It was popularized by the English actress Angela Lansbury, who starred in the TV series Murder, She Wrote. Angela was also the name of a Catholic Saint in the 13th century.
