Fedora is a Russian variant of Theodora. Theodora originates in Greek language and means "God's present". It is the feminine form of Theodore. Theodora was the name of many Roman empresses, as well as the name of several Christian saints. As a feminine given name it is very rather rare and considered old-fashioned in the United States.
