Roseanne

Roseanne is a combination of the names Rose and Anne. Rose originates in Latin language and is derived from the fragrant flower. Its Latin meaning dates back to the 19th century. However, some sources suggest that originally Rose derived from a Norman name which meant "famous kind". The flower rose has always been a sign of love, beauty and also the astrological sign of Libra. It is also the name of a Sicilian saint in the 12th century. Anne is derived from Anna, most likely a variant of a Hebrew name Hannah, meaning "gracious" or "favored", because in the Bible she was a sincere and merciful woman. Ultimately the name lost its initial 'h'. The name Roseanne was popularized by Roseanne Barr, an American performer with several TV shows.
