Merida

Merida originates in Latin language and means "achieving a place of honor". This is the name of several towns in Spanish speaking countries, including the original city of Merida, the capital of the Spanish region of Extremadura. The original name of the city was Emerita Augusta, later on shortened to Merida. As a feminine given name, it was popularized by one of Disney's princesses and the main female protagonist of the film Brave.
